Meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of Paraguay

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, met, on Wednesday, July 27th, 2016, in Rabat, with the President of the Senate of Paraguay, Mr. Roberto Acevedo Quevedo.

At the end of the meeting, a joint press conference was held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, during which Mr. Acevedo Quevedo said the Paraguayan delegation came to lend support the Kingdom of Morocco regarding its dispute over the Sahara and to confirm his belief of the rightness of the Moroccan cause.

On bilateral relations, the Paraguayan official expressed the determination of his country to give a strong boost to trade between the two countries, aspiring to develop and strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom in various fields.

For his part, Mr. Mezouar said the two countries pay special attention to strengthening their cooperative relations, stressing that this visit reflects the strong determination and will of Morocco and Paraguay to diversify their political and economic ties.

Describing as "strong" and "solid" the relationships between Morocco and the South American country, which feed many ambitions, he noted that opening an embassy of Morocco in Paraguay and the exchange of visits confirm this mutual desire to give new impetus to their relations.

The Minister said that the two countries are expected to further strengthen their bilateral cooperation, in particular in political, trade and cultural fields, stressing the important role of parliaments in strengthening these relations.
