HM the King Inaugurates Oued Massa Seawater Desalination Vessel in Dakhla

HM King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), inaugurated, Monday at the Port of Dakhla, the "Oued Massa" seawater desalination vessel.

   Newly acquired by the Royal Navy from the Dutch shipyard "DAMEN SCHELDE NAVAL SHIPBUILDING", this vessel will produce drinking water for the benefit of areas facing water shortage and lack port infrastructure.

   The acquisition of this vessel was decided by HM the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, as a result of the floods that ravaged the southern provinces of the Kingdom in 2014.

   With a production capacity of 1,500 m3 per day, the new vessel will supply drinking water to 75,000 people at a rate of 20 liters per day per capita.

   Upon His arrival at the site, HM the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, was welcomed notably by General de Corps d'Armée Bouchaib Arroub, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone.

   Then, the Sovereign reviewed a detachment of the Royal Navy which made the honors before being greeted by Vice-Admiral Mohamed Laghmari, the Inspector of the Royal Navy, the Rear-Admiral, the Commander of the maritime sector of Dakhla, the wali of Dakhla-Oud Eddahab region, the governor of the province of Oued Ed-Dahab, the director of the port of Dakhla, the operating director of "Marsa Morocco" - Dakhla, and the commander of the port of Dakhla.
